If you are a LBT woman of color, please join me this Saturday, 3/16 for a free workshop that I’ll give on “Negotiating with Money and Emotion.” The workshop is part of a meeting of Women of Color United which is geared specifically towards lesbian, bisexual and transgender women of color.
Time: 1pm potluck, 2-3pm my workshop.

If you can get comfortable with negotiating, you can stand up for yourself when it comes to negotiating prices, raises and paying people for work, and even making investments. A simple framework can help you with the process. I will discuss ZOPA (zone of possible agreement)and and being considerate of five core human concerns that are part of each negotiation.
We will discuss ZOPA (zone of possible agreement) and how to establish one and not go outside of it.
Then we will discuss five core concerns that people have in negotiations (from the book “Beyond Reason”) appreciation; affiliation; autonomy; role and status.
Finally we will do a role play of negotiation with members in the group to practice this form of negotiation.
